| Abstract: |
| Alumina solubility was studied with rotating alumina disc method in Na3AlF6-K3AlF6-AlF3 system, the electrolyte composition was featured with the ratio of K3AlF6 to K3AlF6+Na3AlF6 of 0~50%, and AlF3 occupying 23%~29% of total electrolytes weight. Empirical formula with correlation coefficient 0.994 for calculating alumina solubility and equivalent solubility lines of alumina were proposed. The results show that alumina solubility decreases with the increasing of AlF3 content, when AlF3 content is lower than 25% alumina solubility is relatively high. Along with the increase of K3AlF6, there is the same tendency, that is, alumina solubility increases before decreases, and when the ratio of K3AlF6 to K3AlF6+Na3AlF6 content is 10%~40%, alumina solubility is relatively high. In order to guarantee alumina solubility to be higher than 4%, the melt temperature must be higher than 840 ℃. Therefore, the electrolysis temperature of 850 ℃ is the desirable one for the compound cryolite K3AlF6-Na3AlF6-AlF3 system to realize industrialization. |
