Abstract:
Solvent extraction of hafnium from alloy scrap in hydrochloric acid system was developed with MIBK as extractant. Extraction performances of zirconium, hafnium, titanium and chromium under different technological parameters including hydrogen ion concentration in aqueous phase, NH4SCN concentration in aqueous phase, HSCN concentration in organic phase, and phase ratio O/A were investigated. The results show that hafnium separation from zirconium and titanium is more difficult than that from chromium. Relative separation coefficient of hafnium and zirconium is 6.63 with distribution ratio of hafnium of 1.79 under the optimum conditions including hydrogen ion concentration in aqueous phase of 0.96 mol/L, NH4SCN concentration in aqueous phase of 2.56 mol/L, HSCN concentration in organic phase of 2.73 mol/L, and O/A=1. This technology can promote separation efficiency of hafnium and zirconium to the lower mass ratio of Zr/Hf. Titanium should be separated before extraction.
