Abstract:
      Ocean cobalt rich crusts were leached in dilute sulfuric acid solution using sulfur dioxide as a reductant at ambient temperature and atmosphere pressure The effects of various factors on extraction of valuable metals were investigated The consumptions of sulfur dioxide and sulfuric acid influenced evidently on extraction Almost all of valuable metals were leached considerably in a short time The extraction of metals under the suitable leaching conditions were 99 41% for cobalt, 98 10% for nickel, 92 54% for copper and 97 89% for manganese respectively The consumption of sulfur dioxide was 0 177t for per ton crust
