Abstract:
This paper, firstly analysed the release mechanism and the combustion characteristic of the three species of volatiles ( hydrogen, methane and tar ) which came from the pyrolysis of pitch used as binder in the green carbon anodes, and then made an important conclusion that the key to full combustion of the volatiles is to keep a big temperature difference between flue and anode through combining with the operation principium of a baking furnace, and fully discussed how the temperature difference could be obtained from the two aspect namely the structure and material of the furnace as well as the rate of temperature rising in flue, and lastly detailedly depicted and analysed the two means used for the combusting regulation of volatiles.
