Abstract:
Pb-Sb separation for the PbS-Sb2S3-FeS system in steam atmosphere has been investigated by measuring volatilization rates of Sb2S3 and PbS at 1 073 K. It is demonstrated that a good result for the Pb-Sb separation can be obtained when the FeS content of sample is in 5 %-7 % , and the Pb-Sb separation will be inhibited when the FeS content is greater than 10 % . According to XRD analysis, the roast is composed of PbS , Fe3O4 , FePb4Sb6S14 , Pb5Sb4S11 and FeSb2O4 . The volatilization of Sb2S3 can be improved with the rising of the sample' s melting point caused by the addition of FeS up to 7 % . However, FeS may be combined with Sb2S3 and PbS to form FePb4Sb6S14, Pb5Sb4S11 or oxidized into FeSb2O4 by steam if the content of FeS is too high. The complex sulfides and oxide make the volatilization of Sb2S3 or Sb2O3 more difficult and result in an inferior Pb-Sb separation.
