Abstract:
The Ti-Ni alloy coatings with a metallurgical bond between the coating and its substrate are synthesized by reactive braze coating (RBC) utilizing the industrial raw materials of titanium and nickel powder in vacuum braze furnace on mid steel substrates. The phases, microstructure and composition distribution of alloy coatings are studied by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrum (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and hardness testing. The results show that the microstructure of the composite coatings is made up of NiTi_2, hcp-Ti and NiTi phases. NiTi_2 and NiTi of the coatings are synthesized during braze coating. With braze coating techniques changing, the sort and content of phases in the coatings vary, but the hardness of the coatings, which is up to 85HR15N, does not shift greatly.
