Abstract:
Two kinds of CuZnAl(RE) shape memory alloys (with different phase-transition temperatures) were tested in the condition of dry sliding under different loads, testing times and heat-treatments. The worn surface of the alloy and its phase construction were observed by TEM and XRD. The results indicated that the wear property of CuZnAl(RE) alloy after ageing was better than that of the alloys treated by step quenching. The wear property which was effected by phase-transition temperature of CuZnAl(RE) alloy was related to the temperature of rubbing couples and loads. The plastic deformation of alloys was enlarged with the increase of loads which caused the surface damage and the weight loss of the alloys. The wear resistance of CuZnAl(RE) shape memory alloys could be improved obviously by the shape memory effect, hyperelasticity and grain refinement.
