Abstract:
The effects of high-intensity ultrasonic treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-20%Si are investigated. The results show that treated with high-intensity ultrasonic at 660℃, the coarse plank primary Si is refined and forms into the spherical granules. The primary Si phase in the alloy is well-distributed. The tensile strength and elongation of the alloy are improved. From the fracture surface of the Al-20%Si alloy treated with ultrasonic sound, many tearing slits and dimples can be seen. The characteristic of brittle fracture in combination with toughness fracture is observed.
