Abstract:
The field investigation and laboratory determination are conducted on the Jianshanzi smelting site (N42°52′31.9″,E119°12′07.2″) located in Wengniuteqi (Ongniud Banner), Chifeng Prefecture of Inner Mongolia. From the discovery of the clay fragments, slag and ores in twice field researches, the smelting site is about 10000m2 in area. The analyses on the ore and slag samples show that at the smelting site, the pure copper was smelt by using the Cu-Zn coexisting ores mined from the Jianshanzi deposite. The slag system is of the high ZnO content in the smelting process because of the high content of zinc in the ore. By comprehensively analysis of the clay fragment information etc, the Jianshanzi smelting site is primarily recognized belong to the clay of the Lower Xijiadian Culture, the first bronze culture in North-east China dated as early as 4200-3600BC. The suggestion and prospect for further works on Jianshanzi smelting site are put forward based on the investigation.
