Abstract:
Manganese carbonate was used as microwave absorbing material. The effects of microwave power, treating time, thickness, and mass of samples on microwave energy absorption rate were investigated. Based on single factor experimental results, response surface methodology(RSM) was adopted to design the optimized experiments, analyze the variance and curved surfaces, and to optimize the parameters of fitted mathematical model. The simulated results indicated that the significant level of factors were microwave power, thickness, mass of samples and treating time in order, respectively. The interaction between two of these factors was not significant. The optimized conditions were found as: microwave power was 675 W, time was 131.5 s, thickness was 15.4 mm, mass of samples was 153.6 g. Under these conditions, the predicted absorption rate reached 6.28% by the fitted model, while the actual experimental value was about 5.89% with small relative error to the former. Therefore, it showed that response surface design and its analysis had a good predicted performance in microwave treatment process of minerals.
