Abstract:
Leaching and solvent extraction of heavy rare earth elements (HREE) from phosphate rock with nitric acid were studied. The effects of temperature, nitric acid concentration, time, and liquid-to-solid ratio on HREE leaching rate were studied. The optimum conditions for leaching HREE is 45% HNO3, 60 ℃, ratio of liquid to solid is 2.5, leaching time is 90 min. Under these conditions, HREE leaching rate and solvent extraction rate are 99% and 98.5% respectively, and total recovery of HREE is up to 97.5%. The decomposition percentage of phosphate rock is greater than 98%.
