Abstract:
The effects of adding rare earth Cerium on alloy fluidity、Solidification shrinkage、 microstructure and hot tearing trend of Al4.5Cu alloy are researched in this paper. Experiments show that to add proper rare earth Cerium into the alloy will reduce its viscidity, then increases its liquidity; will cut down the shrinkage during the solidification of the metal liquid; will restrain the trend to be dendritic of the alloy, and improves the microstructure of the casting alloy; will purify the alloy, enhances the thermal conductivity, and decrease the hot tearing trend of the Al4.5Cu alloy remarkably. When the quantity of rare earth Cerium added to Al4.5Cu Alloy is about 4 wt%, the fluidity of Al4.5Cu alloy will be the best, and its volume shrinkage is the least. At the same time, its grain of the alloy is refined, round and .the alloy has the lowest hot tearing trend.
