Abstract:
The exfoliation fracture corrosion (EFC) origin of 7150 alloy at different aging states (T6 and T77) was investigated based on the EFC laws of Boeing 737 keel beam lower chord replacement area at BS540.6 and the microstructure of grain boundary with TEM. The results show that T77 has better resistance to EFC than T6. Continuous η precipitate phases exist on the grain boundary of T6 with no PFZ. Continuous PFZ and dispersed η phases are observed on the grain boundary of T77. The EFC origins of T6 and T77 are the corrosion of η phase and the PFZ as anode, respectively.
