| Abstract: |
| Zirconia/alumina composite long fibers were prepared by sol-gel process with aluminium nitrate, zirconium oxychloride, and tartaric acid as raw materials, and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as spinning additive. The results indicate that the length of gel fibers increases with the increase of PVP addition amount. The maximum length of fiber is about 60 cm. The composite fibers, with α-Al2O3, t-ZrO1.88 in phase, and 4 μm in diameter, can be obtained by sintering gel fibers at 1 200 ℃. The fibers have smooth surface and uniform diameters. |
