Effect of CaO on Preparation of Plate-Like Alumina in NaCl-KCl Molten Salt

Abstract:
      The crystal plate-like α-A1203 was obtained at 1 000 ℃ for 4 h by adding 70% NaCl-KCl molten salt, whose size range is 5~10 μm and the thickness is 0.6~1.4 μm. The effects of calcium oxide on alumina phase and morphology were studied. The result indicated the transition of alumina to α phase was hindered and few plate-like α-A1203 was obtained by adding calcium oxide.
