Abstract:
The extraction behavior and mechanism of palladium and platinum with unsymmetrical sulfoxide (BSO) were studied. The results show that acid concentration works on the extraction mechanism and extraction rate of palladium and platinum. At a low aqueous acidity, BSO acts as a neutral ligand coordinated with palladium, and the extraction rate of palladium achieves 100%. At a high aqueous acidity, the extracting mechanism of palladium and platinum are acid ion association extraction, and the extraction rate of palladium and platinum achieves 100%. Palladium and platinum can be separated effectively at a low aqueous acidity with BSO. Ammonium solution is a high efficient stripping agent to palladium and water is a high efficient stripping agent to platinum.
