Abstract:
Surface modification with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) on nano-CeO2 was achieved in order to improve the dispersibility of nano-CeO2 in organic materials. The modification effect characterized by the activation index and structure were described by IR, TG-DSC, TEM and LPSA. The results show that the optimum modification conditions including SDS dosage of 4%, reaction temperature of 70 ℃, reaction time of 6 h and pH=7. SDS is adsorbed on the surface of nano-CeO2 with chemical bond and formed organic coating. The dispersibility of nano-CeO2 modified with SDS is obviously improved, and the granularity is reduced 44%.
