Abstract:
The pilot plant test on heap leaching of low grade oxidized copper ore in Tuwu, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region was conducted with the use of sulfuric acid as leaching agent. The permeability, copper leaching rate and the consumption of sulfuric acid of different granularity and heap height were investigated; furthermore, the effect of local weather conditions on heap leaching was discussed. The results show that the copper leaching rate is 80% above in view of -50 mm for 60 days sulfuric acid solution spray leaching. The actual consumption of sulfuric acid and water are 24.2 kg and 164 kg per tonnage ore, respectively. The actual consumption of sulfuric acid and water are 9.4 t and 63.9 t per tonnage copper, respectively. It is feasible to recover copper from this low grade oxidized copper ore with the process of heap leaching, solvent extraction, and electrodeposition.
