Abstract:
Yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) fibers were prepared by Sol-Gel method with aluminum powder, aluminum chloride, acetic acid and yttrium oxide as raw materials. The effects of titania on YAG fiber morphology were studied by adding titania into sol. The results indicate that the grain growth of YAG is promoted. The grain size of YAG fibers with titania is about 0.5~1.0 μm when the fiber is sintered at 1 400 ℃ for 6 h.
