Abstract:
The phase composition and microstructure of scandium in AZ91 alloy were studied. The effects of scandium on the microstructure and property of AZ91 alloy were investigated. The results show that scandium generates Al3Sc phase and refines the dendritic structure of crystal grain. The optimum tensile strength at room temperature and 200 ℃ are improved to 265.4 MPa and 161.1 MPa respectively with the additive amount of scandium of 0.6%. The current density of self-corrosion of alloy drops markedly after addition of scandium, while the corrosion potential rises slightly.
