Abstract:
Lead was extracted by direct electrolysis process from lead paste of waste lead-acid batteries with sodium ionic exchange membrane in NaOH solution. The effects of electrolysis temperature, cathode current density, concentration of NaOH, and mass of lead paste on current efficiency and cell voltage were investigated. The results show that the current efficiency is 91% under the optimum parameters including cathode current density of 585 A/m2, temperature of 55 ℃, concentration of NaOH of 15%, and mass of lead paste of 25 g.
