Abstract:
The oil removal from oil-bearing wastewater with different ingredient ceramsite prepared with red mud of Bayer process was investigated. The results show that the oil removal effects are significant when the mass ratio of red mud, coal gangue, river course sediments, and pore-forming agent is 40∶12∶40∶8 and 45∶17∶30∶8 respectively. The oil removal rate of ceramsite is approximate to that of activated carbon and higher than that of sands under the same conditions. The existing of a small amount of sodium carbonate in oil-bearing wastewater contributes to oil removal.
