Abstract:
Variation of alumina concentration during overfeeding or underfeeding operation and its effects on cell voltage and electrolyte temperature were studied. The results show that the overfeeding or underfeeding operation period extends with increase of alumina concentration variation and shortens with increase of overfeeding or underfeeding percentage, while overfeeding operation period shortens with rise of aluminum oxidation reaction rate and underfeeding operation period extends at the fixed condition. The period of underfeeding operation is longer than that of overfeeding operation. The cell voltage increases with the increase of overfeeding or underfeeding percentage. Variation of electrolyte temperature drops with increase of underfeeding percentage and rises with increase of overfeeding percentage at the fixed condition.
