Abstract:
Mg-8Li binary alloy was prepared in vacuum melting furnace with protection of argon. The corrosion status of Mg-8Li alloy under different conditions and the effects of temperature and Cl- concentration on hydrogen generation performance were studied. The results show that Mg-8Li alloy is more likely to be oxidized and corroded in humid air compared with that under natural atmospheric conditions. With hydrothermal modification, the passive film of Mg-8Li alloy becomes loose and porous, and suffers a direct destruction at high temperature. Hydrolysis performance of Mg-8Li alloy improves with increasing of Cl- concentration in reaction medium. Increasing temperature and Cl- concentration in reaction medium is effective to improve hydrogen generation performance of Mg-8Li alloy.
