Abstract:
TiC powder was prepared by direct electrochemical reduction of a mixture of titanium dioxide and carbon black in CaCl2 molten at 850 ℃. The electrochemical reduction process and mechanism of cathodic reaction were studied based on the investigation on the phase structure of cathodic product at different time. The results show that mass transfer velocity of oxygen ions in solid phase is the restrictive step of cathodic reaction speed. Environmentally friendly, the preparation of TiC powder by molten salt electrolysis is easy to operate with low reaction temperature.
