Abstract:
The effects of pretreatment on rhodium extraction from spent automotive catalyst with acidic sodium chlorate solution were investigated. Rhodium was replaced from chlorination solution by zinc powder and the optimum parameters were obtained. The results show that rhodium extraction is improved from 55.9% to 82.7% under the following optimum pretreatment conditions including oxygen pretreatment at 300 ℃ for 3 hours with oxygen flow rate of 200 mL/min and hydrogen pretreatment at 300 ℃ for 3 hours with hydrogen flow rate of 200 mL/min. Rhodium replacement rate is 85.6% under the optimum conditions including dosage of zinc powder of 20 g/L and reaction time of 40 min.
