Abstract:
The effects of addition of sulfur-bearing substance on metallic reduction-magnetic separation of oceanic polymetallic nodules were studied under the conditions including reduction temperature of 1 100 ℃, reduction time of 2.5 h, anthracite dosage of 7%, and additive of 4%. The results show that grade of magnetic concentrates declines though sulfur-bearing substance is effective to improve rate of magnetic concentrate and recovery of valuable metals to some extent. With help of scanning electron microscope, most of sulfur in concentrate is found in form of iron manganese sulfide with alloy particles.
