Abstract:
The removal of magnesium impurity from manganese sulfate electrolyte in manganese production by electrolytic process was studied. Magnesium was removed from manganese sulfate solution with or without removal of heavy metal impurities by recrystallization and fluoridation precipitation respectively. The results show that the magnesium removal rate of 92.74% is achieved by sulfide precipitation to remove heavy metal impurities followed by fluoridation precipitation to remove magnesium impurity.
