Abstract:
Ramming pastes were prepared with calcined anthracite coal, pitch coke, and baked scrap as aggregate, modified pitch and coal tar as binder. The effect of content of binder on properties of ramming paste for aluminum electrolysis was investigated. As the results indicate, volatile component increases with increasing content of binder, both ash content and expansion/shrinkage rate decrease first and then increase, and bulk density, resistivity and compressive strength increase first and then decrease. The optimal comprehensive properties of ramming paste are obtained with content of binder of 17%.
