Abstract:
The actual production of fuming furnace was simulated. The effects of fixed carbon content of pulverized coal on coal consumption of fuming furnace, quality of zinc oxide dust and water-quenched slag were investigated by metallurgical calculation. The results from calculation show that when fixed carbon content of pulverized coal rises from 45% to 55%, zinc and germanium contents in dust rise from 40.58% and 459 g/t to 48.00% and 543 g/t respectively, zinc content in water-quenched slag reduces from 2.25% to 1.38%, and pulverized coal consumption by tones of zinc metal reduces from 4.64 t to 3.80 t. Fixed carbon content of pulverized coal of no less than 55% serves as a smelting control point in economical terms for fuming furnace based on comparison calculated data and production data.
