Abstract:
A novel two-stage leaching process was proposed to treat nickel laterite ore. The results show that the atmospheric pressure leaching rate of Ni and Fe from limonite is 98% and 74% respectively under the following optimum conditions including reaction temperature of 95 ℃, holding time of 5 h, initial slurry concentration of 36%, and sulfuric acid consumption for one tonnage ore of 1.0 t. Serpentine slurry is added into primary atmospheric pressure leaching residue as feed of secondary pressure leaching. The overall leaching rate of Ni and Fe is 93% and 1.5% respectively under the optimum conditions of temperature of 150 ℃, reacting time of 2 h, and ratio of serpentine to ore of 35%.
