| Abstract: |
| The feasibility of a new process to smelt cobalt-bearing copper sulphide ore was verified by experiment. The effects of dosage of reduction agent (coke) and sulfurizing agent (pyrite), smelting temperature and holding time on recovery of copper and cobalt during matte smelting process were investigated. The results show that content of copper and cobalt in waste slag drops to 0.12% and 0.074% respectively with recovery of copper and cobalt in copper-cobalt matte of 92.95% and 89.95% respectively under the optimum conditions including dosage of coke and pyrite of 6% and 20% (mass fraction of smelting slag) respectively. The main phases of waste slag are Fe2SiO4 and Fe3O4. The main phases of copper-cobalt matte are FeS, Fe0.92Co0.08S and Cu8S5. |
