| Abstract: |
| Iron recovery and niobium enrichment from Nb-bearing tailings in Bayan Obo were investigated by carbothermic reduction and magnetic separation based on thermodynamic analysis. The results show that iron oxide can be selective reduced at 1 000~1 100 ℃ with carbon as reductant. Separation of iron concentrate and niobium minerals could be realized by reduction roasting at 1 100 ℃ for 0.5 h and then wet grinding under magnetic field strength of 50 mT. Iron grade in magnetite iron concentrate is 84.82% with iron recovery rate of 81.95%. Nb2O5 grade in magnetic tailings is 1.98% with niobium recovery rate of 95% above. |
