Abstract:
The motivation of carbon-based additives on magnesium reduction process was investigated by orthogonal experiment. The effect of carbon-based additives on thermodynamics and dynamics of reaction were studied. The results show that 8%(mass) pure graphite powder with particle size of -0.074 mm could improve reduction rate to 37.5 percent points in 150 minutes. The balance between cost and efficiency could be obtained by substituting semi coke powder for graphite powder.
