Abstract:
Bubble behavior and wettability of NiFe2O4-based inert anodes were investigated by applying two-compartment see-through quartz electrolysis cell and sessile drop method. The results show that NiFe2O4-based inert anode can contact electrolyte better than carbon anode. Bubble releasing is a dynamic process as presented in the electrolytic experiment carried out under low current density. Forming first at the bottom of anode surface, bubbles then grow and coalesce into a single large one, which finally releases from anode surface. The bubble size produced from NiFe2O4 anodes is smaller than that from carbon anodes. The detention time of bubbles on bottom surface of inert anodes is shorter than that on carbon anodes. Production of bubbles is accelerated with high current density. Bubble size is smaller for accelerated electrolysis, making it difficult to measure bubble diameter.
