| Abstract: |
| Lewis acidic 1-hydrogen-3-methylimidazolium chloroaluminate ionic liquid was synthesized and applied to electrodeposite aluminum at low temperature. Electrodeposition process under different experimental conditions was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, chronopotentiometry and chronoamperometry. The morphology of deposits was characterized. The results show that nucleation density and grain growth rate exert big influence on structure of aluminum. Orientation of aluminum grain depends on temperature and current density. Smooth, dense and well adherent aluminum coatings are obtained on copper substrates at 5~15 mA/cm2 and 313.2~343.2 K. Moreover, deposition efficiency and aluminum purity are significantly improved. |
