Abstract:
The leaching kinetics of high iron gibbsite bauxite were studied. The effects of bauxite particle size, caustic soda concentration in solution, digestion temperature, and stirring speed on digestion were investigated. The results show that dissolution rate of bauxite is 90% above at atmospheric pressure. Dissolution speeds by either raising dissolution temperature or concentration of caustic soda or decreasing bauxite particle size. With effect of particle size, sodium hydroxide concentration and stirring speed into consideration, the kinetics equation can be deduced and shown as:1-2/3 α-(1-α)^(2/3)=1.28×〖10〗^15×(c_NaOH )^1.70×d^(-0.36)×r^0.74×e^(-117402/RT)×t。The solid layer reduces dissolution speed of gibbsite and the limiting step is diffusion.
