Abstract:
The effect of alkali metals on roasting behavior and lattice structure of iron oxide in roasting stages was investigated by briquetting-roasting method with pure reagent as row material. The results show that Na2O has no impact on Fe2O3 lattice structure at the stage of briquetting roasting, but the reaction between Na2CO3 and Fe2O3 generates ferrite with low melting point like NaFeO2 and other liquid phase. Solid-phase reaction tends to happen between K2CO3 and Fe2O3 and produces K2Fe22O34 ferrites. Neither simultaneous addition of K2O and Na2O nor increasing addition amount has influence on Fe2O3 lattice constant a and b, but lattice constant c rises from 1.370 72 nm to 1.372 59 nm and will rise constantly with growth of addition amount.
