Abstract: |
Novel low-temperature molten salts forming between choline chloride and urea were synthesized and characterized. Dissolution process of zinc oxide, relative ionic structure in choline chloride/urea, and electrochemical reduction reaction rule of zinc were investigated. The effects of temperature, potential and Zn(II) concentration on surface morphology, crystal pattern and purity of zinc deposits were analyzed. The results show that smooth, dense and homogeneous zinc coatings with preferred crystallographic orientation of (002) on copper substrates can be obtained under the conditions including Zn(II) concentration of 0.3~0.5 mol/L, temperature of 313.2~343.2 K, and potential of ?0.3~?0.6 V. Not only improving quality and purity of zinc coatings, this new technique also can be applied in zinc electrorefining, production of zinc alloys and functional materials. |
