Abstract:
Iron was recovered from copper tailings of copper smelting slag by reduction roasting and magnetic separation with powdered carbon as reductant. Effect of parameters on iron recovery was investigated and verified with experiments. The results show that content of iron in magnetic concentrate is 92.16% and that of iron in gangue drops to 3.91% with iron recovery of 87.65% under the optimum conditions including dosage of carbon powder and CaO of 25% and 10% of slag amount respectively, roasting temperature of 1 300 ℃, roasting time of 1.5 h, and size of roasted product of -0.074 mm of 55%.
