Abstract:
The effects of Si/Fe ratios on metallization of nickel and iron and aggregating behavior of nickel-iron alloy were investigated applying iron trioxide, nickel oxide and magnesium silicate as raw materials, which were blended based on mass ratio of iron, nickel and silicon of typical nickel oxide ore in Yunnan province. The results show that grade of nickel and iron in obtained concentrates after magnetic separation is 4.95% and 50.93% respectively, and recovery of nickel and iron is 99.32% and 80.12% respectively under the conditions of Fe/Ni=13/1, Si/Fe=1.2/1, twice theoretical value of coal addition, 1 280 ℃ and 60 min. Main phases in reduction product are MgSiO3 and [Fe,Ni] with good aggregation state, and [Fe,Ni] is as main phase in concentrate with a little residual SiO2 which indicates a good separation result. Verification tests conducted to treat typical nickel oxide ore in Yunnan province acquires similar results.
