Abstract:
Electric furnace smelting technology was adopted to treat vanadium-titanium magnetite concentrate in Panzhihua. The results show that separation and distribution of iron and non-ferrous elements can be controlled with suitable reducing agent, appropriate metallization rate of pre-reduction pellets and optimized electric furnace smelting temperature and time. Most of vanadium is collected in pig iron, while titanium is gathered in furnace slag. Pig iron is obtained with iron grade of 97.96% and iron recovery of 98.81%, vanadium content of 0.36% and vanadium recovery of 62.42% under the conditions including alkalinity (CaO/SiO2) of 1.1, metallization rate of 70%, smelting temperature of 1 500 ℃ and smelting time of 10 min. Furnace slag exhibits good fluidity in smelting process.
