| Abstract: |
| A novel idea for wind power accommodation by aluminum electrolysis nearby was proposed. Firstly, features of wind power distribution and aluminum electrolysis industry were analyzed to explore theoretical feasibility of wind power accommodation by aluminum electrolysis. Then, based on characters of aluminum reduction cell, key problems were thoroughly analyzed from the aspects of safety, thermal balance, and MHD (magnetohydrodynamics) instabilities. Finally, a whole accommodation implementation plan of wind power by aluminum reduction was introduced from the points of theoretical value of accommodation, evaluation of reduction cell, and industrial experiment plane. Numerical simulation result proves huge accommodation potential for aluminum reduction cell. Aluminum electrolysis cell can stably accommodate win power under proper technique and accommodation scheme. |
