Abstract:
Oxygen and corrosion behavior of Pb-0.1?-1.5%Sn anode under different concentrations of Cl- were studied by weight-loss method, galvanostatic polarization, EIS, CV, and CP. The results show that one more oxidation peak (Cl-→Cl2) emerged upon introduction of Cl- in electrolytic process. With increase of Cl-, oxygen evolution potential, self-corrosion current, and corrosion rate first rise then drop in Pb-0.1?-1.5%Sn anode. Surface of Pb-0.1?-1.5%Sn anode is mainly composed of PbO2, PbSO4 and PbO?PbSO4 after galvanostatic polarizating for 12 h. PbO?PbSO4 of Pb-0.1?-1.5%Sn anode under condition of galvanostatic polarization is effectively suppressed by Cl-, which promotes generation of PbO2 and PbSO4, and accelerates corrosion of anode.
