Abstract:
Reduction characteristics of carbon-bearing pellets made from red mud were investigated at 900~1 200 ℃ by weight-loss experiments. The results show that metallization rate of metalized pellets with iron content of 60.7% is 83.48% above, which can be used as raw material for iron and steel metallurgy. Reaction fraction and conversion rate of pellets rises with increase of temperature at 900~1 200 ℃. Reduction rate of pellets is controlled by interface or local reaction and carbon gasification with activation energy of 110.16~111.42 kJ/mol.
