Abstract:
Comparative study on zinc electrolysis from new solution of cobalt removal purified by zinc powder, antimony salt, copper sulfate, and new organic reagent for cobalt removal was carried out. The results show that zinc plate with good appearance quality is obtained from new solution purified by new organic reagent, without phenomenon of re-dissolution and plate-burning, and current efficiency is 86.09%~89.225 with 8.35 points higher than that of other purification methods under the optimum conditions including current density of 320 A/m2, cell voltage of 3.15~3.3 V, tank temperature of 28~31 ℃, time of 32 h, dosage of gelatin solution of 10 mL every two hours, and dosage of new organic reagent of 8.5 mg/L. Organic matter accumulates continually, re-dissolution and plate-burning of electrolytic cathode appear with prolonging of electrolysis duration, but stop after active carbon addition, and cathode zinc plate has flat and smooth surface.
