Abstract:
Extraction mechanism of rubidium and potassium with 4-tert-butyl-2-(α-methylbenzyl)-phenol (t-BAMBP) was studied. Relationship between distribution ratio (D) and pH/concentration of ROH was investigated by slope method, which shows a reaction of cationic exchange, structure of extractant is MOR?ROH(o)(M representing Rb /K ), and extraction reaction is M (a) 2ROH(o) OH-(a)?MOR?ROH(o) H2O. The infrared spectrums of organic phase and loaded organic phase of potassium and rubidium were analyzed. Peak intensity drops and position shifts, indicating that H changes into phenol salts after replaced by M ion in cationic exchange reaction. Extraction capacity of rubidium is 4.59 g/L under the specific extraction conditions, which indicates that t-BAMBP has a strong ability to extract rubidium.
