Abstract:
"Flash-roasting - alkali dissolving desilication" method was applied to treat low-grade high-sulfur bauxite. Effects of flash roasting temperature, L/S, alkali concentration, desilication temperature, and desilication time on removal rate of SiO2 and loss rate of Al2O3 were investigated. The results show that removal rate of SiO2 is 46% above, loss rate of Al2O3 is 3% below, and A/S ratio rises from 4.3 in roasted ore to 8.4 in aluminum concentrate under the optimum conditions including flash roasting temperature of 1 000 ℃, L/S=10︰1, alkali concentration of NK=110 g/L, desilication temperature of 95 ℃, and desilication time of 20 min. This process can be applied to Bayer dissolution production.
