Abstract:
Solvent extraction of copper from ammoniacal/ammonium sulfate medium using Mextral 54-100 was investigsted. Effects of extractant concentration, phase ratio, extraction time and pH value of initial leach solution on copper extraction were examined. The results show that capacity of one-stage copper extraction is 29.66 g/L under the optimum conditions including 40% volume concentration of extractant, phase ratio of O/A=1/1, and extraction time of 4 min. Copper stripping rate with 170 g/L H2SO4 is 92.59% from loaded organic phase. Theoretical stage of extraction is determined by of McCabe-Thiele Isothermy Graphic Method. After two-stage countercurrent extraction, the simulation results correspond with the data, and copper concentration in raffinate is about 0.06 g/L.
