Abstract:
Technology to combine photocatalytic and electrocatalytic oxidation was applied to degrade semi-coking wastewater. With graphite and activated carbon particles as three-dimensional electrode material, the simulated phenol solution was degraded with ultraviolet light. Effects of applied voltage, dosage of activated carbon particle, electrolyte concentration, and dosage of TiO2 photocatalyst (P25) on removal rates of phenol and COD in solution were investigated. The results show that removal rates of phenol and COD in solution are 81.11% and 73.64% respectively after three hours under the following conditions including applied voltage of 10 V, dosage of activated carbon particle of 8 g, electrolyte concentration of 0.15 mol/L, and dosage of P25 of 0.6 g. COD removal rate of semi-coking wastewater from a production plant is 60.63% under the optimized conditions.
